Our Story

Sometimes, the most meaningful ideas are born from the most difficult moments. The idea for DisApp began not in a boardroom, but during a heartfelt conversation on a trip to Panama.

My uncle and his family plus my mom, dad and brother were in Panama to celebrate the life of my grandmother who was born in Panama and still had family there. We found ourselves navigating a sea of complex emotions—grief mixed with the joy of remembering a life so wonderfully lived. As we talked, we remembered her often witty humor and love of sports and during the conversation, my uncle brought up a story remembering watching the Aggie – Longhorn rivalry game during Thanksgiving and wishing she would be around to see that the rivalry was set to return. It was in that moment of shared experiences and fond memories that a simple idea popped into my uncle’s head…rivalry is what makes the game fun. Memaw was loud and proud in her sports rooting and became a Facebook fiend when she learned how to use a smartphone. My uncle lamented “Man with the new (at the time) sticker feature of iPhone, it would be cool if there was some way to talk trash between fans and really drive the rivalry”.

That small spark led to the realization that despite people loving to dis and trash talk when it comes to sport, there really wasn’t anything that facilitated doing so in a fun playful vs. jerkish kind of way. From that moment, the quest for DisApp was born. Our family first team worked to create our very first two digital sticker packs, designed to promote the kind of banter that makes friendships fun even if the other side chooses the wrong team.   We think the country is ready to “dis” in a fun way and we love that we get to think of Memaw on a daily basis as a core part of our inspiration for the idea.

From the digital stickers you share in your messages to the designs on the apparel you wear, each product is a reminder that we're all just trying to connect, laugh, and enjoy the little things in life like the thrill of the rivalry. Thank you for being a part of our story.
